Oral Wellness

Our Doctors are honored to have Elizabeth and Jennifer as our Hygiene team. Liz and Jen work closely with you to maintain your overall wellness.

Our hygiene team uses the latest technologies to monitor your oral wellness. We use blood pressure cuffs, chair side computers, digital radiography and cameras, decay screening, risk assessments, periodontal charting and salivary testing.

ORAL WELLNESS VISITS

Oral Wellness visits (Dental Cleanings) are the most important appointments we have. These visits allow us to review your overall health and wellness as it relates to your oral cavity (mouth). During each wellness visit, Liz and Jen will:

  • review and update any medical changes or concerns
  • evaluate the health of your gums and tissue
  • remove general plaque and bacteria built up on your teeth
  • gather digital diagnostic images and documentation
  • educate you about any decay, infections or concerns they see

Once Liz and Jen have completed your wellness visit, they will often ask Dr. Crosswell or Dr. Kozakowski to speak with you about any dental treatment needs they are recommending.
DIAGNOSTIC IMAGES & DOCUMENTATION

During your oral wellness visit we may recommend the use of a digital diagnostic tool such as digital radiography (x-rays), periodontal charting and oral images. These tools help us detect decay, infections, and other serious health concerns we can not see with our naked eyes.

  • Digital X-ray technology today emits the lowest radiation necessary. In fact, you receive more radiation walking across a football field.
  • Periodontal charting is the measurement of your gum tissue and how is attaches (or lack of) to your teeth and root structure.
  • Oral images allow us to show you decay, broken teeth, old dental treatment, oral lesions, and so much more. A picture says a thousand words!
It is important for us to have updated completed dental records using these tools.

PERIODONTAL THERAPY

Our team is proud to offer patients non-surgical periodontal therapy. Our hygienists are highly trained to detect periodontal disease.

The CDC reports that about half of Americans have periodontal disease of some degree. Periodontal disease can cause many other health related issues and should be treated right away. Periodontal disease is treatable and episodic in nature, but not curable. Many patients will move in and out of Periodontal Therapy throughout their lifetime.

Liz and Jen are able to provide:

  • Non-invasive Scaling and Root Planning Therapy
  • Perio Protect Trays
  • Periodontal Maintenance
It is important for us to have updated completed dental records using these tools.

WHITENING

Teeth whitening can be a great way to enhance your smile. We offer many options to help patients achieve the whitest smile possible.

  • In-office Whitening Sessions offer the quickest whitening results in a short period of time.
  • Custom Take home trays allow you to whiten your teeth around your schedule, whenever and as often as you want.
  • Take home kits come pre-made for those who need a simple, cost effective solution to whitening.

Whitening only works on the natural tooth enamel. Patients with many restorations (crowns and fillings) should consult us before starting a whitening routine.
HOME CARE KITS AND PRODUCTS

Dental home care products play an important roll in your oral wellness. Our team may recommend home care products to use as part of your daily routine. We are proud to offer patients the ability to purchase those products directly from us during thier visit.

Home care products may include:

  • Electric Tooth Brush
  • WaterPik Water Flosser
  • Specialized Toothpastes
  • Oral Rinses
  • Dry Mouth Products
  • Perio Gel
